ANY type of hike - on ANY part of the Appalachian Trail - is - (for most folks) NEVER easy - just "more or less hard" .
Backpacking the "AT" is BOTH WALKING AND CAMPING - and camping is not that comfortable for everyone.
The internet has been BOTH a great ADVANTAGE and a DISADVANTAGE to prospective "newbie" thru-hikers of the Appalachian Trail in recent years. MUCH info IS available quickly - BUT - unfortunately much of it is incorrect, inconsistent or misleading (and how is one to know that many online "experts" are only experienced in online gab - NOT - hiking ?)
Here at the Top of Georgia Hostel and Hiking Center we have expanded on our founder's online "Thru-Hiker Coaching Program" (Appalachian Wilderness Guides since 2003) into our comprehensive "Appalachian Trail School" - located at our hiking center campus!
HERE - just 1/2 mile off the Georgia Appalachian Trail *Dicks Creek Gap) - we conduct a series of "no B.S." seminars and an "in the woods clinic" ! All pupils are given a 10% discount on all gear shop purchases as well
CHECK IT OUT !
